/>The Open Doors Russian Scholarship Project highlights Russia's strong position as a top educational nation.Each year, thousands of talented students from around the globe apply to join the program.Over 12,000 young people from 190 countries have successfully won scholarships and gone on to study at prominent Russian universities, making their dreams come true.At the same time, the project is constantly evolving, becoming more competitive and improving its offerings.Konstantin Mogilevsky, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Russia, said he is confident that in 2026, participants will recognize the hard work of the Open Doors team and enjoy the intellectual rewards of being part of the program.The Open Doors: Russian Scholarship Project has been running since 2017, organized by member universities of the Global Universities Association.In the past eight years, around 500,000 people from over 190 countries have taken part in the intellectual competitions.About 90% of these participants are from Asia and Africa.Over 12,000 winners and prize-winners of Open Doors have been given the chance to study for free at top Russian universities. Regular surveys show that participants view education and research in Russia as being just as good as in China, Germany, the UK, and the US, which are usually popular with students. Open Doors is entirely online and takes place on the original platform, od.globaluni.ru. It is available in Russian and English, depending on the participant's choice. This year, the competition is open to bachelor's, master's, doctoral, and post-doctoral tracks, covering 14 interdisciplinary subjects. Those who successfully complete the intellectual competitions in the bachelor's, master's, and doctoral tracks can be named winners or runners-up and choose a program in Russian or English at a Russian university for further study.Post-doctoral winners are offered the chance to work on one of the research projects presented by the universities organizing the competition.Every year, the Open Doors team works to improve the ways of finding and choosing the most talented and motivated people who want to study at Russian universities.The subjects offered are based on the interests of people in the global market, and teaching materials are used following the same standards across different areas.The Open Doors Russian Scholarship Project is a competitive international academic competition that offers talented students from around the world the chance to study for free at top Russian universities.It is organized by the Global Universities Association and the Russian Ministry

What the Scholarship Covers Winning the competition gives you a state-funded spot at a participating university. 100% Tuition Waiver: The scholarship fully covers your tuition fees for the entire duration of your degree. Direct Admission: Winners don't have to take standard university entrance exams. Language Training: If you choose a program taught in Russian, you get a free one-year Russian language course. (Many programs are also available in English). Important Note: The scholarship mainly covers tuition. Students are usually responsible for housing, flights, and daily expenses, though some universities may provide subsidized dorms or small monthly allowances. Eligibility and Academic Tracks The competition is free to join, is entirely online, and is open to all nationalities. You can apply in 14 main subject areas, including Clinical Medicine, Artificial Intelligence, Business, and Linguistics, across four academic tracks: Bachelor's Track: For students who have finished or are currently in their final year of high school. Master's Track: For those with a Bachelor's or Specialist degree. Doctoral (PhD) Track: For those with a Master's or Specialist degree. Postdoctoral Track: For individuals who already hold a PhD or equivalent and are looking for research positions. How the Selection Process Works Unlike traditional scholarships where you just apply, Open Doors is an academic competition. Applicants are ranked based on their performance in different stages: 

Stage 1 (Portfolio Evaluation): You submit your academic records, a personal statement, and proof of any achievements, such as awards, certificates, or research. A jury reviews and scores the portfolios. 

Stage 2 (Online Exam): Top candidates from Stage 1 take a proctored, problem-solving exam in their chosen subject area. 

Stage 3 (Interviews): This stage is only for PhD and Postdoctoral candidates. It involves online interviews with potential university supervisors to discuss research proposals and fit. Typical Annual Timeline: While the exact dates may vary slightly each year, the competition follows a strict annual schedule. Based on the 2026–2027 cycle, the timeline usually looks like this: Registration and Portfolio Upload: September 1 to mid-November.
